More about Edinburgh itself:

Edinburgh is a lovely city and is recognized worldwide. It is beautiful and surprises many first time visitors. The architecture is spectacular modern and old and it is build on and around hill.

The Royal Mile is the ridge that slops from the heights of the castle down beneath the volcanic Arthurs Seat.

Princes Street has fantastic shopping and the Royal Mile has many streets:- High Street, Canongate, Castle Hill, and Lawnmarket.

Canongate extends from Edinburgh Castle in the west to the Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyroodhouse to the east.

Edinburgh Castle is spectacular and is located at the west end of the royal mile. It sits atop the castle rock and can been seen anywhere in Edinburgh, and Arthurs Seat can be seen also. Arthurs seat can be found to the South (Holyrood Park).

In the 1700's an extension was made to the North of which was planned by James Craig and a Georgian new town was built. The new and old town are separate, old having more historical attractions and the new excellent range of shops even though its still looks relatively old.

Scotland Parliament Building is of modern architecture and cost around £414 million to build instead of the original estimate of £42 million. Some would suggest that it is a fabulous building and others would say that's its a waste of money and looks ugly.

Edinburgh hosts many different festivals, arts festival, international film festival, book festival and many more, these takes place in the summer months.
